Dear FRA Community,
At Franklin Road Academy, we describe our distinctive purpose as balancing family, faith, and scholarship so our students can shape their own balanced lives.
Part of this purpose is helping our students discover and take ownership of ways they can influence their world. Now, thanks to a generous and visionary private gift to FRA, we will have more ways of empowering our students to become effective lifelong stewards: the establishment of The Center for Philanthropic Studies at Franklin Road Academy.
Through the Center, Franklin Road Academy students can learn practical ways to act as agents of goodwill in the world, while simultaneously exploring what it means to balance self with society. This exciting program will immerse students in the fundamentals of community building, service learning, and social networking—skills they will continue to rely on throughout their lives. The program will also model the most effective age-appropriate service activities. These principles have guided our early planning:
- Instilling an ethic of servant leadership in all FRA students, building upon our mission and enhancing our existing community outreach program;
- Emphasizing student-designed and student-implemented projects;
- Engaging students in a multi-faceted, hands-on curriculum that calls for innovative thinking and leads to inspired service;
- Fostering a school-wide ethos of giving, service, and authentic community engagement that benefits both Franklin Road Academy families and the wider Nashville community.
Through this initiative and this new Center, your student and your family will share even more fully in the joy and love that comes from giving time, talents, and treasures for the common good. We look forward to providing more information on this exciting initiative with you in the coming months.
Sincerely,
Margaret W. Wade, Ed.D.
