Policy for the Responsible Use of Technology and the Internet

FRA teachers, staff and administrators believe that it is our role as adults to encourage and enforce adherence to certain standards of behavior as it relates to technology. We believe that such structure is essential for raising healthy, resilient young people. Enforcing limits and monitoring behavior are part of teaching that structure.

We take seriously our responsibility to support FRA families and we acknowledge our commitment to promoting safety, integrity and balance when using or teaching technology and the Internet. We will continue to equip FRA parents and the community by offering training classes and information in hopes of enabling them to safely use technology and the Internet at home.

FRA has a standard of behavior for students, faculty and staff using technology and the Internet. At FRA we provide various forms of structure with the tablet PCs including rules, schedules, and classroom rituals. Students are accountable to the FRA Code of Conduct when using technology, as are faculty and staff. Consequences will be enforced if the FRA Code of Conduct is not upheld.

Network Use

The campus network will not be used by students to harass, humiliate, or threaten others, tamper with school-owned technology resources, or access administrative records or systems. Any use of the network for activities that are illegal and/or inconsistent with FRA's Mission Statement is prohibited. FRA reserves the right to deem other activity (not specifically listed below) as an acceptable or unacceptable use of the network.

Any willful action that interferes with or threatens to disrupt the normal operation of the network for its intended purposes is specifically prohibited. Examples of such actions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Introducing spyware, viruses, worms or other applications designed to damage systems or gather electronic information
  • contributing electronic chain mail
  • Sending broadcast messages
  • Failing to comply with a request to discontinue activity that may threaten the operation of the network or other systems
