The varsity basketball gym was built when the Upper School was completed in the 1970s. It holds 900 spectators and has a regulation court. The FRA gym has held District, Region, and Sectional tournaments and has hosted an AAU National Basketball Tournament and Little League basketball games.

In the late 1980s, FRA was considered to have premier sports facilities. The George A. Volkert Athletic Complex, completed in 1987, sits on 40 acres and houses a football field, five tennis courts, an eight lane track and soccer field, a softball field and the baseball field, which was renovated in 2004. The Middle School gym was completed in 1998. After Middle School practice, FRA teams from first-fifth grades practice throughout the evening.

FRA has a full time grounds keeper who has a horticulture degree from University of Tennessee at Martin. He maintains all athletic fields. Countless hours go into watering, fertilizing, seeding, aerating, and cutting of all our athletic fields.

The football field is used by Upper and Middle School teams. Little League Football also use the field.

In the spring of 2004, FRA purchased the First Christian Church next door to FRA. With the purchase, FRA gained an auxiliary gym and 10 acres of usable land for athletics. FRA renovated the church gym which now hosts Middle School wrestling meets, fifth and sixth grade basketball practice, varsity baseball and a softball batting cage.

Weight Room - The weight room (completed at the same time as the Middle School gym) is located next to the gym. The weight room is open from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and employs a full time weight coach. State-of-the-art lifting platforms and cardiovascular equipment are utilized throughout the day. There are boys and girls weight classes offered each day. Athletes are encouraged to take weights during the day so that their evenings can be used for study. The weight room is an extremely important resource for making our athletes stronger and building their confidence.

Wrestling Team - The FRA wrestling team, (small when it started ten years ago), won the State Duals Championship in 2005. The team enjoys a renovated wrestling room with dressing area. Mats go wall-to-wall and the walls are padded.
